What are 3M Clarity aligners?

Clarity aligners are clear, removable trays. Each set moves your teeth a little at a time, following a plan Dr. Haverkos builds from detailed records of your teeth.
Our iTero digital scanner means no goopy impressions. You switch to the next tray on the schedule he gives you, and you come in so he can check your progress.
Clarity is made by Solventum, which used to be 3M Health Care, so you’ll see both names. Invisalign works on the same basic idea, and we offer both.
Is Clarity right for your teeth?
Clear aligners work well for crowded teeth, gaps, and many bite problems. Some cases do better with braces, and Dr. Haverkos will tell you straight when that’s the case.
If braces turn out to be the better fit, you can compare traditional metal braces and ceramic clear braces at the same visit.
Teeth shifted since braces?
It happens a lot. Bring your old retainers if you still have them, and tell us about your first round of treatment.
We’ll look at where your teeth are today and what would help now.
Thinking about aligners for your teen?
Include your teen in the decision. You’re thinking about cost and results. They’re wondering what lunch will look like.
Ask both sets of questions at the consultation. Aligners only work when they’re in, so your teen needs to be on board with the daily routine.
An adult who wants something discreet?
Aligners are far less noticeable than metal braces. Some plans add small, tooth-colored attachments that help the trays move your teeth, and Dr. Haverkos will show you what your plan looks like before you start.
For a look at what adults pay across treatment types, see our adult braces cost guide.
3M Clarity vs. Invisalign
We offer both, so you’re not getting a pitch for one brand. Dr. Haverkos recommends the one that fits your teeth and tells you why.
Ask these four questions at your consultation:
- Which aligner can make the moves my teeth need?
- Does the fee or timeline change between the two?
- Will my plan include attachments or other appliances?
- How often will I come in?
Neither one wins for every patient, and an Invisalign price you find online isn’t your Clarity quote. Get both fees in writing and compare.

How much do 3M Clarity aligners cost in Cincinnati?
Clarity treatment at Haverkos Family Orthodontics costs $3,000 to $6,500, depending on how complex your case is.
Your fee includes:
- All treatment records
- Refinements, which are extra aligners that fine-tune your results
- A set of retainers at the end of treatment
Dr. Haverkos gives you your exact fee after he examines you, before you decide anything.
What could my monthly payments look like?
One typical plan is $980 down and $200 a month for 24 months, which comes to $5,780 total.
Your plan depends on your fee. If that example doesn’t fit your budget, tell us what would. We offer in-house financing and work with CareCredit, and you can read more about financing and insurance at our office.
Does insurance help?
We work with almost all insurances, and even when we’re not in network, the benefits are most often the same.
Our team checks your orthodontic benefits and tells you your expected out-of-pocket cost before you start.
What daily life with Clarity looks like

You wear your trays about 22 hours a day, or as Dr. Haverkos prescribes. They come out to eat and to drink anything but water, and they go back in as soon as you’ve brushed.
Think about your real day. If you sip coffee all morning or snack constantly, tell us now so we can plan around it. New trays can feel tight at first.
For teens, the case goes in a backpack pocket, never in a napkin. Napkins end up in the lunch trash. A phone reminder to put the trays back in after lunch helps too.
If a tray is lost, cracked, or hurting
Call us at (513) 481-8000 before you change anything. Don’t guess about going back a tray or skipping ahead.
Keep your progress visits as well. That’s when Dr. Haverkos checks your progress and makes adjustments if needed.

Frequently asked questions about Clarity aligners
How much do Clarity aligners cost at Haverkos?
Treatment costs $3,000 to $6,500, depending on how complex your case is. The fee includes your treatment records, refinements, and a set of retainers at the end. We offer in-house financing and CareCredit, and Dr. Haverkos gives you your exact fee after your exam.
Are Clarity aligners better than Invisalign?
Neither one wins for every patient. We offer both, so Dr. Haverkos recommends the one that fits your teeth and explains his reasons in the same visit.
Are Clarity aligners cheaper than Invisalign?
Not automatically. Ask for the fee and what’s included for each, then compare. Our guide to Invisalign costs in Cincinnati shows how those prices work.
Does insurance cover Clarity aligners?
If your plan includes orthodontic benefits, it can help. Age limits and maximums vary by plan, so our team checks yours and tells you what to expect out of pocket.
How long does Clarity treatment take?
Treatment at our office typically runs 12 to 24 months, depending on the case. Dr. Haverkos gives you an estimate for your teeth at your consultation, and wearing your trays as prescribed helps keep treatment on track.
Will people see my aligners or attachments?
Aligners are much less noticeable than metal braces, but they aren’t invisible. If your plan includes small tooth-colored attachments, Dr. Haverkos shows you where they’d go before you start.
Can I drink coffee with Clarity aligners in?
Take them out for coffee and anything else but water. Brush before the trays go back in.
Do Clarity aligners hurt?
A new set can feel tight for the first few days. Call us if you have pain that sticks around, rubbing, or a tray that doesn’t fit right.
What if my teenager struggles to wear the aligners?
Tell us early instead of waiting for the next visit. We’ll find out what’s getting in the way and adjust the plan. Talking through the daily routine before you start helps a lot.
What if I lose an aligner?
Call (513) 481-8000 for instructions. Don’t move to the next set, go back a set, or stop wearing your trays until we’ve talked.
Are Clarity aligners the same as clear braces?
No. Aligners are removable trays. Clear braces use ceramic brackets attached to your teeth, and we offer both. Browse our treatment options to compare.
Will I need retainers afterward?
Yes. Retainers keep your teeth where we moved them, and a set is included in your Clarity fee. Dr. Haverkos tells you how long to wear them.
